About Elaine Yap Sin Yee

Yap Sin Yee, is making headlines as a sensational young pianist in her home, Malaysia and being described as a young artist who “took all musical considerations in the stride” (The Straits Times, Singapore). She has been selected as one of the winners of New England Conservatory’s Marion Rubin Berman 31’ Piano Honors Competition (2017) and performed at the New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall. She also won First Prize at the Singapore National Piano and Violin Competition (Artist Category, 2013), Second Prize (first prize not awarded) at the 1st Thailand International Mozart Piano Competition in 2011. Sin Yee has performed in countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and Netherlands and also collaborated with orchestras: Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center (klpac) Orchestra, Metropolitan Festival Orchestra Singapore and Penang Philharmonic Orchestra. For chamber music, she worked with Gary Hoffman, Nicola Boud, Pei-Shan Lee, Vivian-Hornik Weilerstein, Max Levinson and Lucy Chapman. Sin Yee also performed for renowned artists in masterclasses, including Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Stephen Hough, Gottlieb Wallisch, Konstantin Scherbakov, Jerome Lowenthal, Ann Schein, Lisa Smirnova, Martin Roscoe, Mei Yi Foo etc. She was a participant at The International Holland Music Sessions 2015, under the guidance of Mikhail Voskresensky, and attended Kirishima International Music Festival 2014, studied with Elisso Virsaladze. Sin Yee completed her Bachelor of Music at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, studied with Mr. Albert Tiu. She is now at the New England Conservatory for Master of Music program, under tutelage of Mr. Meng-Chieh Liu.
